A History of NSPA's Publications

NSPA periodicals have a history as old as the organization itself.

NSPA published its Scholastic Editor newsletter/magazine from the beginning, starting in 1921. It continued in various forms until the mid-'80s, when NSPA and ACP began publishing separate publications called Trends in High School Media and Trends in College Media.

In 2000, NSPA began publishing its news and feature articles online under the Trends banners, including the popular "It's the Law" columns penned by Mike Hiestand.

In 2007, NSPA returned to lending its name to a printed magazine when it began partnering with Ball State University on its Blend publication.

Around the same time, NSPA began publishing its own news items and press releases in blog format on its Web site. You can find the latest NSPA news, along with links to student press news elsewhere on the Web, right from our home page.

Looking for other, non-periodical NSPA publications such as our publication guidebooks and Best of the High School Press? You can find those available for sale on our publications and merchandise page.
