ACP announces finalists
for its Individual Award categories<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Approximately 490 finalists from 49 contests
in nine categories set to be named

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MINNEAPOLIS \u2014 Associated Collegiate Press has begun naming finalists in its popular Individual Awards competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The finalist announcements begin today with approximately 200 finalists being named in 21 competitions in four categories \u2014 Best Use of Social Media, Broadcast Story of the Year, Design of the Year and Multimedia Story of the Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The remaining finalists will be announced in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winners will be announced at the ACP Pacemaker and Individual Awards Ceremony at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, at MediaFest22,<\/a><\/strong> the Fall National College Media Convention, in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe future of journalism and communications is bright if the quality of the work submitted in the ACP Individual Awards is any indication,\u201d said ACP associate director Gary Lundgren. \u201cThese contests are highly competitive and it is a huge honor to be named a finalist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACP names 10 finalists in each competition. Ultimately, five winners and five honorable mentions will be recognized. The first-place winner in each contest receives a plaque. The other winners and honorable mentions receive certificates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A handful of contests have fewer than 10 finalists, based on the quality and number of entries received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the winners are announced on Oct. 28, a gallery of the winners and honorable mentions will be shared on this website allowing student journalists and advisers to see all of the entries recognized in the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
