Our convention hotel in Long Beach is in a pretty amazing place \u2014 it\u2019s right on the water, surrounded by activities, delicious food and places to explore. You\u2019re sure to have a great time in the city (and a great time getting excited about journalism in the sessions!).<\/span><\/p>\n

Here are just a few things you can do during convention off-hours, all close to the Hyatt Regency<\/a> hotel. <\/span><\/p>\n

Shoreline Village<\/h2>\n

Just a quick walk across a pedestrian bridge, <\/span>Shoreline Village<\/span><\/a> is an adorable area to walk around and browse. You\u2019ll find restaurants and quirky shops, perfect for picking up a souvenir to remember your time here.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pine Avenue Pier<\/b><\/h2>\n

Pine Avenue Pier is nestled in the bay, a five-minute walk from the hotel. You can walk the pier or stop and explore the food, drink and other destinations along Pine Avenue.<\/span><\/p>\n

Queen Mary<\/b><\/h2>\n

Looking for a bit of history? Take a tour of the iconic\u00a0<\/span>Queen Mary<\/span><\/a> (or catch a glimpse driving by). It\u2019s a decent walk, but only an 8-minute drive from the hotel.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shoreline Aquatic Park<\/b><\/h2>\n

Need to get away? Take a quick walk to the lighthouse at <\/span>Shoreline Aquatic Park<\/span><\/a>, where you can catch views of the Queen Mary and the Long Beach skyline. You can even grab lunch and enjoy the scenery from a picnic table.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aquarium of the Pacific<\/b><\/h2>\n

If you\u2019re coming early or staying late, the <\/span>aquarium<\/span><\/a> is an excellent choice \u2014 and, even better, it\u2019s only a 10-minute walk from the Hyatt Regency. See a baby penguin, touch\u00a0 moon jellies and learn about the 11,000 other animals that live there. <\/span><\/p>\n
