{"id":5151,"date":"2018-03-21T15:01:53","date_gmt":"2018-03-21T20:01:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/studentpress.org\/acp\/?p=5151"},"modified":"2018-03-23T12:44:22","modified_gmt":"2018-03-23T17:44:22","slug":"2017-yearbook-pacemaker-finalists-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/studentpress.org\/acp\/2018\/03\/21\/2017-yearbook-pacemaker-finalists-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"2017 Yearbook Pacemaker finalists announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MINNEAPOLIS \u2014 The nation\u2019s top collegiate yearbooks were recognized today by the Associated Collegiate Press who announced eight finalists in its annual Pacemaker competition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Pacemaker is the association\u2019s preeminent award,\u201d said Laura Widmer, executive director. \u201cACP is honored to recognize the best of the best with Pacemaker honors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ACP Pacemaker award, one of the oldest awards for collegiate journalism, has a rich tradition. The association began presenting the prestigious award to collegiate newspapers soon after the organization was founded in 1921. Throughout the years, yearbooks, magazines and online sites were added to the competition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition to excelling in coverage, photojournalism, writing and design, the winning yearbooks were edgy and took risks to keep their readers engaged,\u201d said Gary Lundgren, associate director. \u201cThere are no shortcuts to excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of the eight yearbooks announced as finalists, three will be named as Pacemaker winners. All eight yearbooks will be honored at the <a href=\"http:\/\/collegemediaconvention.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ACP\/CMA National College Media Convention<\/a>, Oct. 25-28, 2018 in Louisville, Kentucky.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<div style=\"overflow: hidden;\">\n<div style=\"width: 49%;
