MINNEAPOLIS \u2014The Associated Collegiate Press has recognized 24 online news and magazine sites as finalists in the Online Pacemaker competition.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Pacemaker is the association\u2019s preeminent award and is often called the Pulitzer Prize of collegiate journalism,\u201d said Laura Widmer, executive director. \u201cACP is honored to recognize the best of the best.\u201d<\/p>\n

ACP received approximately 100 overall entries from colleges and universities. To select the finalists, respected professionals including professors and current digital media professionals analyzed each entry in categories based on student enrollment. The selected finalists represent 16 states and the District of Columbia.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u2019s best online sites are platforms for rich multimedia storytelling,\u201d said Gary Lundgren, associate director and coordinator of the Pacemaker competition. \u201cDeep and diverse coverage with strong engagement and interactivity distinguish the best student-produced sites.\u201d<\/p>\n

In this competition, only the online product was judged. Print newspapers compete in a separate competition. The ACP Newspaper Pacemaker finalists<\/a> were announced recently.<\/p>\n

Both print and online Pacemaker finalists will be recognized and the Pacemaker winners announced at the ACP\/CMA National College Media Convention<\/a>, Oct. 25-28, 2018 in Louisville, Ky.<\/p>\n
