Gannett Scholarship<\/a> (Maine)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>ACCREDITED JOURNALISM SCHOOLS<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.ku.edu\/~acejmc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications<\/a>, or ACEJMC, is the agency responsible for the evaluation of professional journalism and mass communications programs in colleges and universities. Of approximately 400-plus journalism and mass communication college programs, about a quarter of them are accredited. You do not need to attend an accredited program to ensure career success, but it&#8217;s important to understand the value of accreditation.<\/p>\n<p><a left;\">\n<p><strong>NATIONAL SCHOLASTIC JOURNALISM GROUPS<\/strong><br \/>\nAlong with NSPA, there are five other national scholastic journalism groups. They are:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cspa.columbia.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Columbia Scholastic Press Association<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nCSPA is an international student press association uniting student journalists and faculty advisers at schools and colleges through educational conferences, idea exchanges and award programs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsfund.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Dow Jones News Fund<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nThe Dow Jones News Fund provides annual grants to more than 20 workshops for high school students at colleges around the country and recognizes and supports high school media advisers through its programs and publications as part of its mission to promote careers in journalism.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jea.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Journalism Education Association<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nThe Journalism Education Association is the largest scholastic journalism organization for teachers and advisers. It provides training around the country at national conventions and institutes. It offers national certification for teaching high school journalism. It publishes print and online resources on the latest trends in journalism education. It provides avenues for virtual discussion among teachers, as well as communities and mentoring to learn best practices. It monitors and actively defends First Amendment and scholastic press rights issues across the country.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/quillandscroll.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Quill and Scroll<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nQuill and Scroll is an international honorary society with the goals of encouraging excellence in high school journalism while also recognizing individual student academic and media achievements.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.splc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Student Press Law Center<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nThe Student Press Law Center is the nation&#8217;s only legal assistance agency devoted exclusively to educating high school and college journalists about the rights and responsibilities embodied in the First Amendment and supporting the student news media in their struggle to cover important issues free from censorship.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 32%;
