{"id":2590,"date":"2016-05-17T16:17:45","date_gmt":"2016-05-17T16:17:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/studentpress.org\/nspa\/?p=2590"},"modified":"2016-05-17T16:18:39","modified_gmt":"2016-05-17T16:18:39","slug":"nspa-looks-forward-to-strong-transition-in-jea-stewardship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/studentpress.org\/nspa\/nspa-looks-forward-to-strong-transition-in-jea-stewardship\/","title":{"rendered":"NSPA looks forward to strong transition in JEA stewardship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Scholastic Press Association wishes our longtime partner group the Journalism Education Association all the best as it seeks a new executive director.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly Furnas has accepted a teaching position this fall at Elon University in North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Kelly is a consummate professional whose stewardship of JEA has made it a strong and powerful advocate for journalism education. Whoever receives the handoff of his baton will step into a JEA at full strength with deep resources,&#8221; said NSPA Executive Director Diana Mitsu Klos. &#8220;The JEA board, journalism school leadership at Kansas State University and Kelly will ensure a smooth transition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>NSPA and JEA have been convention partners for nearly a century; planning is already well underway for this fall\u2019s National High School Journalism Convention in Indianapolis and for next spring\u2019s convention in Seattle.<\/p>\n<p>As we say so long to Kelly, we look forward to continuing our collaborations with JEA in service to scholastic media.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<br \/>\n<em>Posted May 17, 2016<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Scholastic Press Association wishes our longtime partner group the Journalism Education Association all the best as it seeks a new executive director.
