Of those finalists, 140 will be announced as winners and presented with plaques indicating their top-five ranking. The winners represent only four percent of the total entries.<\/p>\n<p>Both the finalists and winners will be recognized at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dallas.journalismconvention.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">JEA\/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism Convention<\/a>,\u00a0Nov. 16-19\u00a0in Dallas.<\/p>\n<p>Finalists in the following NSPA Individual Award categories have been announced:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/studentpress.org\/nspa\/awards\/doyf17\/\">Design of the Year<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/studentpress.org\/nspa\/awards\/poyf17\/\">Picture of the Year<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/studentpress.org\/nspa\/awards\/soyf17\/\">Story of the Year<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/studentpress.org\/nspa\/awards\/caf17\/\">Cartooning Award<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/studentpress.org\/nspa\/awards\/msoyf17\/\">Multimedia Story of the Year<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/studentpress.org\/nspa\/awards\/bsoy17\/\">Broadcast Story of the Year<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Competition was intense in all six categories of the 2017 NSPA Individual Awards with 3,500 entries competing.
