{"id":623615,"date":"2025-11-04T15:58:49","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T21:58:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/studentpress.org\/nspa\/?p=623615"},"modified":"2025-11-09T20:29:01","modified_gmt":"2025-11-10T02:29:01","slug":"2025-junior-high-middle-school-individual-award-finalists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/studentpress.org\/nspa\/2025-junior-high-middle-school-individual-award-finalists\/","title":{"rendered":"2025 Individual Award finalists"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/studentpress.org\/nspa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/10\/site.banner.nspa_.juniorhigh.101023-1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"600\" height=\"123\" src=\"https:\/\/studentpress.org\/nspa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/10\/site.banner.nspa_.juniorhigh.101023-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-619201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/studentpress.org\/nspa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/10\/site.banner.nspa_.juniorhigh.101023-1.png 600w, https:\/\/studentpress.org\/nspa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/10\/site.banner.nspa_.juniorhigh.101023-1-300x62.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-3\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:32px\">NSPA announces junior high\/middle school finalists<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Approximately 57 finalists from nine contests in three categories are named; winners announced at the Nashville convention<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Nov. 5, 2025<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MINNEAPOLIS \u2014 The National Scholastic Press Association has named 57 finalists in its Individual Awards for middle school and junior high journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winners will be announced at the NSPA Awards Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the <a href=\"https:\/\/fall.journalismconvention.org\/\"><strong>Fall National High School Journalism Convention<\/strong> <\/a>in Nashville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NSPA Individual Awards recognize the outstanding achievements of individual students and small teams of journalists.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJunior high and middle school journalists are doing some amazing work,\u201d said NSPA associate director Gary Lundgren. \u201cMany of the entries submitted would be competitive in the high school competition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The number of finalists named in each competition is based on the number and overall quality of the entries submitted.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The competition features three categories with several contests \u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DESIGN: <\/strong>Literary Arts Magazine, Newspaper\/Newsmagazine, Yearbook<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PHOTOJOURNALISM:<\/strong> Feature Photo, Sports Photo<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>STORY:<\/strong> Broadcast, Multimedia, News Feature<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In most contests, 10 finalists have been named and five winners and five honorable mentions will be recognized in Nashville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In three contests, four or five finalists have been named and three winners and one or two honorable mentions will be recognized in Nashville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Multimedia Story contest there were not enough entries to select finalists or winners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first-place winner in each contest receives a plaque. The other winners and honorable mentions receive certificates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the winners are announced on Nov. 15, a gallery of the winners and honorable mentions will be shared on this website allowing student journalists and advisers to see all of the entries recognized in the competition.
