{"id":863,"date":"2015-03-09T12:05:10","date_gmt":"2015-03-09T17:05:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/studentpressblogs.org\/nspa\/?p=863"},"modified":"2015-09-09T13:37:30","modified_gmt":"2015-09-09T13:37:30","slug":"2014-nspa-magazine-pacemaker-finalists-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/studentpress.org\/nspa\/2014-nspa-magazine-pacemaker-finalists-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"2014 NSPA Magazine Pacemaker finalists announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MINNEAPOLIS &#8211; The National Scholastic Press Association is pleased to announce Magazine Pacemaker competition finalists.<\/p>\n<div>The contest, which recognizes high school literary magazines published during the 2013-14 school year, named 10 finalists based on excellence in concept, writing\/editing, photography, art and design. The finalists were selected from among 47 entries.<\/div>\n<div>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The judge commented that it was a major challenge to choose the finalists this year because all of the magazines were strong contenders,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Kirsten Chang, contest and critique coordinator.<\/div>\n<div>In particular, the judge noted the finalists displayed excellent short-form writing with strong openings and vivid, specific and economic use of language.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div>\n<p>The Pacemaker winners will be announced at the Spring JEA\/NSPA Spring National High School Journalism Convention in Denver, April 16-19.
