MINNEAPOLIS – The National Scholastic Press Association is pleased to announce Magazine Pacemaker competition finalists.
The contest, which recognizes high school literary magazines published during the 2013-14 school year, named 10 finalists based on excellence in concept, writing/editing, photography, art and design. The finalists were selected from among 47 entries.
“The judge commented that it was a major challenge to choose the finalists this year because all of the magazines were strong contenders,†said Kirsten Chang, contest and critique coordinator.
In particular, the judge noted the finalists displayed excellent short-form writing with strong openings and vivid, specific and economic use of language.
The Pacemaker winners will be announced at the Spring JEA/NSPA Spring National High School Journalism Convention in Denver, April 16-19. The NSPA Awards Ceremony will take place at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18. Convention registration is now open online.
