KEYNOTE SPEAKERS:

Andy Staples, Thursday, Nov. 12.
Staples has covered college football for Sports Illustrated since 2008. Before that he covered University of Florida and high school sports for The Tampa Tribune, and University of Tennessee sports for the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

Eric Deggans, Friday, Nov. 13.
Deggans is National Public Radio’s first full-time TV critic, crafting stories and commentaries for Morning Edition and All Things Considered, along with writing material for NPR.org and the website’s blogs such as Code Switch, Monkey See and The Two Way. He came to NPR in 2013 from the Tampa Bay Times, where he served as TV/Media Critic and in other roles for nearly 20 years.


NSPA will present the prestigious honor in scholastic journalism, the Pacemaker, on Saturday, afternoon, Nov. 14 for newspaper and broadcast.

NSPA will also present individual awards: Story of the Year, Multimedia Story of the Year, Picture of the Year, Design of the Year, Broadcast Story of the Year and Cartooning awards. The Student Courage in Journalism Award will be presented. And during the Saturday adviser luncheon, NSPA’s highest award to journalism educators, the Pioneer will be presented.

JEA will present the results of its Write-off Contests on Sunday morning, Nov. 15. JEA will honor fall award and certification recipients at the Saturday adviser luncheon.


Register for the convention by Oct. 21, before prices go up. NSPA and JEA members receive significant discounts.

Discounted Guest rooms at the Walt Disney World Dolphin are currently sold out. Other options are available.

If you have overbooked guest rooms at the Walt Disney World Dolphin, please drop them immediately so that your fellow delegates can stay at the convention hotel.

Waiting until the last minute to drop rooms may result in severe financial penalties being charged to NSPA and JEA.
